Lydd Airport - No Expansion graphic

Our Agenda: Campaign objectives

Today: 10th Mar 2010

Objectives; To prevent Lydd Airport expanding from 5000 passengers per annum now to 2 million by 2011 and 6 million by 2021.

To prevent them harbouring jet airliners of whatever size through them extending their runways thus enabling such monsters to land and take off.

Results: the long-term survival of the 900 hectare RSPB Dungeness Bird Reserve, and the sites of international importance in terms of flora and fauna.

The quality of life of residents in the affected areas – Greatstone, Littlestone, New Romney, Camber, Lydd, Rye, Hythe, Dymchurch and associated villages – will not suffer the effect of a major aviation operation in their vicinity.

The countryside will not suffer the impact of the infrastructure and development which would inevitably follow the expansion of Lydd Airport on this scale.

The possible pursuance of legislative measures to protect the entire areas of Walland Marsh, Romney Marsh and associated coastland from future development proposals.
